I'm in desperate need of a change. My hair has been the same for a while.

I've been wanting to go lighter for quite some time now, but I don't know if its the best choice.
If I do go lighter I would like something like =

and if I go darker I was thinking something like Alexis Bledels hair in this photo =

I have really thick, healthy hair, I just cut like 3 inches off. It was a pretty big cut change, but I want a bit more of a change.
Hair coloring...should I go lighter or darker?
Darker, but not TOO dark
Go for dark with some highlights.

I would do the ash blonde highlights but not the darker color. Your skin color looks like the blond would look good. Not too much blonde or too light though, usually our natural haircolor looks the best on us.

i like the emma watson pic the best for your coloring and present hair. if you go darker like alexis your natural hair seems to be lighter than the color you picked so it would be a lot more upkeep keeping those roots covered! id go with lighter like hermione :) good luck!

No, don't go dark your eyebrows are too light to go dark unless you plan to color them. Just get some really blonde highlights that always looks pretty.

I say go lighter first - since you have always wanted that - because once you go dark... well it will be harder to go light. So go light for now - and when you are done with that then go darker.
I think you will look cute either way. You have a lovely face.
Peace.

why not do High and low lights. This will give your hair a very dimensional look, and well as giving it movement and would show off the design in your recent cut. how dark, and what color, will have to be determined by your skin tone, and your stylist should be able to look at your forearm, compared to her own and know whether or not you are warm, cool or neutral.....but in order for her or him to know, they have to know their own tone, what I mean by this is what is your underlying pigment, most people are either warm or cool.

Goodluck! have fun!

I think the darker color would look nice. Be sure to stick with something thats not too dark though. Since you have a fair complextion as it is you may end up making yourself look washed out if you go too dark or too light. Personally, I would do highlights and lowlights with more of whatever you decide to go for.
