You need to buy semi Permanent hair color. It wears off in about 6 weeks though. Probably a Rite-Aid or Walgreens. Otherwise you will have to use a colored mousse that shampoo's out at each use and you won't have the shine you would have with semi permanent.

The key is to buy anything that says SEMI-PERMANENT. That will mean that it will gradually wash out.

Be sure and wear the gloves included so you don't die your hands and use an old towel b.c. it will stain it.

These are great for fall to cover-up between colorings.

if you go to a local beauty store, i prefer Sally Beauty, they will have a wide selection of hair dyes. if you aren't looking for a permanent color, then you have a few options. the first option is to purchase a temporary hair color, which will wash out with a couple shampoos. next, you could purchase a semi-permanent dye, which is a color that doesn't penetrate your hair, rather rests on the outer layers. this will slowly wear away as you shampoo, lasting somewhere between 5 to 7 weeks, depending on your hair. the last option is a demi-permanent hair color. this is made of smaller molecules, so the color will penetrate your hair. it will begin to fade sooner, but won't wash out as quickly as semi-permanent dyes. i find that the workers at Sally Beauty are quite knowledgeable and will help you out if you have any questions. but don't forget, if you are looking to lighten your hair, none of these options will work. bleach and permanent dye is the only way to lighten your hair color.
