Coloring hair after chemo?

My mom finished chemotherapy at the end of the summer, and she has about an inch of hair grown back. The hair is very fine, almost fuzzy, and has some gray patches, same as she had before. She wants to color it to cover the gray, but doesn't want to use permanent color. Is there a good semi-permanent hair color that would cover the gray, and not damage her delicate new hair? Thanks!

Coloring hair after chemo?

do not color her hair! first of all, the hair that is coming in will eventually fall out as the healthy-unaffected hair begins to come in.

when the hair that is growing now reaches a length about 5 or 6 inches, the new unaffected hair will begin coming in and the chemo affected hair will fall out.

another reason why not to color the hair is that when a person colors their hair, they are chemically altering it. a person who has been on any form of chemotherapy will have lasting affects of chemotherapy for a good 6 months to a year.

not only will dying her hair now damage what is there, it may not take anyway!

Coloring hair after chemo?

I am sorry, but I really don't have a direct answer to your question. However, I do have some insight about hair and chemo. My son (20 months old) is currently going through chemo and our doctor had told us to not add any chemicals to his hair until approx one to two years after chemo has been concluded. Tell your mom my family's prayers will include her.

Miss Clairol has a non-permanent hair color that washes out in 6-12 washes.

There is one that washes out in 12-28 washes.

Another option is a 'color wash' that washes out after every shampoo. This is probably your best bet. It is called 'Fanciful' and can be found in places like 'Sally's' or even Wal-Mart.

Where can I get a similar conditioner to the one that comes with hair coloring?

The conditioning treatment that comes with hair color makes my hair so soft and manageable. I have tried other deep conditioning treatments, but the only one that works is the little tube of stuff that comes with semi-permanant or permanant hair coloring. what's in it that makes it work so great, and where can I find it?

Where can I get a similar conditioner to the one that comes with hair coloring?

Pantene makes a new line called "restoratives". The conditioner is REALLY good. It's not as awesome as hair color conditioner but it's darn close.

use pantene prov for colored hair and then pick the color.

You need to simply by any conditioner that is specifically for color treated hair at any department store, or beauty supplier.

Um, buy the hair coloring.

Where can I get a similar conditioner to the one that comes with hair coloring?

I would write down the name of the product (hair color or conditioner) and take it to a salon and they should be able to tell you where you can find it. I've always wondered the same thing. My hair has never felt so healthy, after using the conditioner.

You could try John Freida glaze and shampoos.

How can I care for my hair after at home hair coloring?

I recently corrected my at home hair color disaster with wonderful results. All highlights dry my hair out but iI feel especially paranoid after this at home coloring experience. What are the best store bought / homemade conditioners/ treatments for my newly highlighted at-home hair color?

How can I care for my hair after at home hair coloring?

There are a few different choices for u.. First off I am a Hairstylist SO here is my professional Advice. If u need a good shampoo/conditioner (store bought), Paul Mitchell is not that bad . Also now a days u can find alot of salon Products being sold (which they arnt supposed to be out there, because the companies are not wanting them to b, but they get bought by a 3rd party who sells them to the stores). There are a few different 1s u can check for...

there is Matrix,Big Sexy Hair, Kerostase, and purology. They are found at different drugstores like CVS (if thats in your area) and Walmart.. THey are pricier then others though, But remember those products are not straight from the manufacturer. So they could be anything in those bottles or the real thing. Store brand products have alot of silicone and other "coaters" for the hair. That is why Hairstylists want u to use the best products and also alot of Salon products are "water Soluble" which means u are not using as much product , because the water u are using works as a big lather in the hair. That means that you may be paying more up front but in the long run it pans out about even and u are getting a better product. SO my advice.. Spend a bit more up front get at least a salon deep conditioner and start getting your hair back in shape.. Also remember to trim it every 8 wks. Also No matter what people say do not and I repeat DO NOT use a anything on your hair that u can make at home or under your kitchen sink.. DEFINETLY not good for your hair. .It will dry it out more in the long run.... I hope this helped.. GL

i like nexxus products...aussie is good too...

How can I care for my hair after at home hair coloring?

Deep Fuel by Redken...it's 5 treatments in one box for $15. You use one a week so that's 5 weeks of treatments. My hair was in really bad shape and I used this for a few months and it feels like brand new (well almost).

also K-pak reconstructor by Joico is good too.

How can I care for my hair after at home hair coloring?

when you wash it, try to do it without using hot water and shampoo it not every day. nexxus is a great brand or use one that is for color treated hair. be care with the shampoo make sure it is for color treated hair. and dont let the shower just pound your head forever with hot water. also you could pour some vinegar deluted with water over as a finial rinse. or try some of the shimmering lights shampoo which will brighten your highlighted areas. with out seeing the color and your type its kinda hard to say any else. good luck. and thank you sage, the tip on not shampooing for 48 is a great thing also.

How can I care for my hair after at home hair coloring?

..Don't shampoo your hair for the first 48 hours allow your hair to come back as close to normal as possible....When you do shampoo....use a shampoos for chemically treated hair...Use a penetrating conditioner ( 3 minute miracle from Aussie is good) when you dry it.. especially after bleaching do not brush it when wet....use your fingers to pull through your hair when drying ....use leave in conditioner....and for petes sake...if you love it keep it up...your touch up I mean!

How can I care for my hair after at home hair coloring?

I use Aussie shampoo and conditioner. Then once or twice a week i use their 3 minute miracle conditioner. Try to stay away from blow drying or straitening as you know that is damaging.

How do I REMOVE Men's Redken Camo HAIR COLORING from my hair?

Help!!! I tried the Redken camo product, and my hair went from gray to dark brown and looks very fake. Is there any way to remove the coloring? Thank!

How do I REMOVE Men's Redken Camo HAIR COLORING from my hair?

Shave your head!

How do I REMOVE Men's Redken Camo HAIR COLORING from my hair?

There are hair color removers you can buy at any major drug store. Also, washing your hair with a shampoo with a high Ph will strip some of the color. (Prell) BE CAREFUL! All of these products are likely to leave you with very dry, broken hair. I would ultimately suggest making an appointment at a salon with a colorist and let her do it for you. It will be worth the $$$$.

How do I REMOVE Men's Redken Camo HAIR COLORING from my hair?

Go to a salon and ask for a Malibu treatment! It is the best and will strip your hair of all the artificial dyes and chemicals! Your hair will feel way smoother and natural after, and the color will be gone. Be careful if you color your hair regularly, and have not seen your natural color in some years! It might kind of surprise you, or even look gray if you are older. After the Malibu treatment, you should wait a few days to get your hair dyed again. Don't try to use baking soda or some other at home treatment to remove color! Bad bad bad! A Malibu might be more expensive, but it is definitely worth it!!! Oh and don't be embarrassed to get it if you are a guy! I've gotten it done before!

I know I am fabulous!

Is there any way to get hair coloring off of a wall?

ugh.....how about a little touch up paint? how hard is that?

Is there any way to get hair coloring off of a wall?

Nope. And you'll have to sand the area a little bit first.

BUT

You can camoflauge it by using a little creativity. White-out, white nail polish, a paste made from flour and water, some stickers, a poster of a cute kitty... Use your imagination.

I'd buy another box of color in the same shade that she used, and splatter-paint the rest of the room. Make it look purpouseful.

Best of luck.

Is there any way to get hair coloring off of a wall?

No, your going to have to seal the dye with a primer and then paint the wall.

Help! I had an allergic reaction to a coloring from my hair coloring?

Home remedy for hives doesn't always work. Benadryl is the only over the counter med that may give you some relief. But seeing a Doctor is best. A Doctor can give you an injection to give you fast relief. A doctor can prescribe you Prednisone to get rid of the hives.

I have to carry an epi-pen because my airway closes when I have an allergic reaction.
