I have naturally dark brown hair. I use to have my hair highlighted blonde and had a base of bronzy brown for a couple of years. They kept adding on the highlights that I practically had a full head of blonde hair. Early last year I decided to go back to my dark roots and had it stripped in the salon. They put a dark brown color but there was still a reddish tint noticeable at the ends. I was warned that this would happened.
After 2 months, I decided that I didn't want to spend the $100+ to get it professionally done and did it myself. I chose to stick to being a brunette so I got Feria. After another 2 months I chose a brunette color from Preference coz I couldn't find the color I had used. It's time to re-dye my hair again and I went back and got another Feria. I'm sticking to brunettes. Currently, my hair is a light brown with reddish tints to it. I want to go darker--more like a chocolate brown. I picked "HavanaBrown-medium brown". Would it work? It's a darker color

It depends on the amount of red that is in your hair. Hair "tint" is made from blue, red, and yellow. so if you want to get the red out for a more smooth looking brown, try a brown that has more blue and yellow which would be a slightly "ash brown" That should even it out. Also remember that once you pick a color you like, find a good stylist and take her the end of the cardboard box from the color you bought so she can see the numbers of the color and match it up...at home coloring is fast and cheap but it also is damaging to your your hair because it isnt customized to your texture, density, and thickness. Good luck girl!!

It will probably be dark with some highlights b/c of the reddish tints in your hair. I'm betting it will look pretty!

Ithink it would turn out alright ,but be on the safe side, %26amp; call a Beauty SupplyStore, %26amp; ask first. They carry a cheap product, to take out the red, I just can't remember the name of it, off hand. You put it on, then rinse,%26amp; your ready to go!

Hi, feria is not the good as you still get reddish tints with it, but when you tend to put light brown ones on they do go a reddish colour any way, ive died my hair millions of times and this was the result i always get when i use a light brown, The only way i can get it too look darker is to i use a medium brown or dark brown that covers with no red, The best hair dye i used is Garnia nutrees in dark golden brown. And medium ash brown in nice and easy. I was once told that if you use a green shampoo it nutralises the red so you could perhaps try this, hope this helps

I would suggest using a semi permant over the counter color. Any of the med browns should get rid of the red.
