Good hair coloring ideas?

I have med-dark brown hair. I'm thinking about dying it a little darker and putting higlights underneath like this except my hairs shorter like just above my boobs. I wear my hair straight a lot would it look good with this? http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cf...

Or should I just get regular thin highlights?
