LIGHTEN instead of BLEACHING hair before coloring??? HELP?!????

i am planning to get my hair colored a wild color and am wondering if i can just lighten my black hair with a clairol lightener or sumthin instead of bleaching my hair???

would it be okay?

or do i have to bleach it to get good results?

ive had blach hair you have to use bleach to lighten your hair color, i used clariol natural blonde bleaching hair dye its like $10 and it took my hair from black to orange then i dyed it brown and then blonde =) so yes deff. use hair bleach or it wont do anything. then just do a deep conditioner like once a week and itll be okay
