not on the day you dyed it and the day after that. buy a color shield shampoo and conditioner. i suggest garnier. so the color won't get off easily and would last a long time.

Yes shampoo will neutralize the peroxide and stop the chemical process. If you don't shampoo, it could continue to process and severly damage your hair. Just don't shampoo after that for 24 hours

After I first dyed my hair I only washed it with the conditioner that my hair coloring kit came with.

I wish it in 2 days with shampoo and some of the color came out.

I also got shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair, and that seems to be helping to keep the color in.
