Hair care coloring - what kind to get?

I just dyed my hair. I am trying to go dark again for the winter...so I did. :) It looks awesome, a nice deep chocolate brown.

My question is....

With all the hair care products out there...do I get:

1.) Color Care (formulated for color treated hair - prodefcts from UVA and stuff, but it's allready like 57* with no sun here, uggggg)

2.) Brown Care (formulated for hair that is brown - protects and shines with brown enhancers)

3.) Any others?

I just dont want it to fade out quick, ya know? I have family pictures on Oct first so it has to last at least that long, LOL!

Thank you for SERIOUS answers. ;)

I dye my hair as well, and I have tried almost everything out there. I do not like the brown care stuff, and I've tried many brands. I would suggest a color care (I do not like pantene pro-v because it starts to form a wax like build up over long periods of use) or a very light shampoo and conditioner such as Dove hair care products. If you don't mind spending the money, consult a hair care professional and get their opinion, you will spend more $, but you might find it worth it in the end.

I would let a professional do the hair coloring. And make sure you shampoo and conditioner formulated for colored hair it really makes the color hold longer.

I use Feria whenever I dye my hair. Its a bit more expensive but I like how natural it looks after its done. It has built in highlights which give the natural look because peoples hair will have slightly different ones. It also gives it a nice shiney glow afterwards. Other cheaper brands always leave hair bland or really dry feeling or rough. Feria doesnt. and feria also has dye for darker hair tones. In conclusion its the best cuz it doesnt fade for me and I use just regular Fructis for dyed hair and my hair doesnt fade. I think the shamppos for hair tones (the shampoos for blonde, brunette, or red hair) is just a way to make money. My personal opinion. Any shampoo for dyed hair is fine. And def use conditioner to help it will leave it feelling soft afterwards.

Color Care, I think, is the best. Brown Care really only works on natural, un-dyed hair. The dye you used probably already put in highlights anyway. Pureology makes awesome shampoos that don't have sulfates, so it doesn't strip your hair, and they have an awesome color care line. You can buy it at beauty supply stores or even at Target, I think. More expensive than most, but their products are all concentrated so a little goes a long way.

You really need to see a professional. You have to be very careful of what you put on your hair. There are alot of over-the- counter dye that contains metalic dies which are very harsh on the hair. I've seen total dissasters from using store purchased coloring. Once I seen a lady get a perm who used a store color, the metalic in the hair color caused an explossion in the hair when the perm was applied.

If you are wanting to go darker than what you are now consider using a semi-permanent color, it doesn't have the harsh chemicals that a permanent color has and you can do it more often. The only down side of semi-permanent is it will not lighten because it doesn't contain peroxide and it does fade faster than permant, but like I said you can do it more often.

To keep your color from fading so fast consider washing your hair like every couple days instead of daily. There are also alot of professional shampoos that are designed for helping color last longer.

Be careful using those over-the-counter colors.
