Is it necessary to have unwashed hair before coloring, and why?

I just bought a box color, but I washed my hair this morning. Will it make a difference if I color today?

It really depends on the brand.. if it says on unwashed hair then I would wait and do it later in the evening or wait until morning! This will just reassure that you hair holds the color better... especially if you are using a red!

If its unwashed the color holds better.

Your hair should actually just be dry, not unwashed (hairspray build up can reduce effects of color) When your hair is dry it can absorb the color into the hair shaft completely. Wet hair can not absorb the color because it has water in it.

Not really - you can do it if your scalp is not very sensitive, and you don't color washed hair every time. The whole point of unwashed hair is that color damages the hair less and color doesn't touch the scalp as much. But doing it once in a while like this is okay. Good Luck!

the grease in your hair will protect your hair from getting burned when you color it.

so just wait one more day before getting it done, and try not to put any products in your hair
