you need to have your hair stripped. if the black dye is permanent then coloring over it will just make look blacker if that's possible. you will not be able to tell you colored it. i wouldn't recommend stripping it yourself. it takes a long time and its a very 'delicate' process. if your mix the peroxide too strong, it will fry your hair and it will all fall out.

None. When hair is lightened, it has to be bleached. Especially with black hair. Let a professional do it, or, in a pinch, go to Sally's and ask what you can do.

Nothing except for BLEACH which totally kills your hair. I dyed my hair black and I had to go to a hair salon for them to strip my hair then dye it to the color I wanted. It takes a couple hours and lots of damage.

Once you've dyed your hair black, you're pretty well stuck with it unless you want to get a corrective color service.

"Color doesn't lift color" - meaning, hair color will not make another hair color lighter. Only bleach can lighten dyed hair.

First, try going to Sallys and buy SalonCare Color Corrector (it's 12.99) and get someone to apply it to your hair. It should strip a substantial amount of color from your hair. Next, go to a salon and ask the stylist to get your hair back to light brown. I'm doubting seriously you will be able to get to blonde without major damage done to your hair.

Right now, I'm a golden yellow blonde because of black hair dye. It's about a two week process to go from black to blonde without making your hair fall out.

Oh sweetie, you can't go blonde from dyed black with a simple kit. You HAVE to bleach it. If your hair was perhaps naturally black, there'd be a chance you could dye it with one step, but because it's dyed, it's imperative that you bleach. Just leave it black. Not everyone has to be blonde, honey.

The first thing you need to understand is that color will not lift color. Please go to a salon and have it done professionally. You need to take the box of color you put on you hair and tell the stylist exactly what you did to achieve the color you have.

If you try to do it yourself you could end up with breakage or extremely damaged hair or both. I know from wince I speak I have been doing hair for over thirty years.
