Hair coloring suggestions, blondish to brown?

I need to dye my hair, it is currently medium brown with many blond highlights (and really bad roots!). I want to get rid of the blond, and go for a warm brown color. I want to do this at home to save money, but have never done it myself before. Would this be ok to do? Are there any problems I should look out for? Any way to make it look natural?

Thanks so much!

You Need to be VERY careful when going from blonde to brown. Make sure the shade of brown you choose does not have an ash base. This WILL turn the highlights green. Your best bet is to go to a sally's beauty supply and ask the clerk for a swatch cart. Then look for somthing with neutural base. If they have clairol colors, Go for an either an 84n ,85n or 86n.

Whichever level you prefer. Pick up a 20vol delevloper ( the clerk will help you find these things.) Pour the color into a bowl, fill the empty bottle of color with the delevloper and pour that into bowl as well.

Hope that helps!

I see no problem doing it but where you have the blond highlights those will be lighter than the rest of your hair. If you get a dye close to your current brown hair color you might not even notice it.

Just get a regular hair dye by Loreal or one of those other big names, they are all in the same section ;-)

Also I would suggest you get someone to help you! You don't want to be missing spots =)

well it would be fine. you'll end up getting an odd color though, but if you are just dying it back to a brownish color it wont be bad at all, all of the highlights in your hair will just add a natural higlilght to you color you go with. i wouldn't suggest loreal hair color though. go to a beaty supply and ask them what dye's they would recommend. i usualy go with a liquid clarol or xoria. but i ususaally color my hair redish tones. so ask them at the beauty supply. all hair is different and reacts different to different kinds of dyes and what nots! but if you are scared have a freind or your mom help you with the coloring, that way you make sure to get all of the hair colored! you don't want any uncolored patches! ^_^

good luck
