Advice on coloring hair, please?

Alright. I've had light blonde highlights and med. brown lowlights put into my hair about two months ago. My hair is naturally a dirty blonde, and I've decided not to touch the color up because I told my friend she could play with it over Christmas. She's colored her own hair before, and her friends too, and nothing's gone wrong. But what should I look out for? Semi permanent? Demi permanent? What if we get crazy and color it a funky color? Will an otc color remover do the trick? Help me please!

BTW- Back in the summer, I had red/auburn lowlights instead of brown, and some of the color remains. I don't think my stylist washed it out, I think she just colored over it. And the (current) brown color has blended in to my natural hair color. -Sorry, but I didn't know if this stuff mattered or not.

Thanks in advance!!

Well as far as playing with the colors i would only go with ones that you truely liked alot and just die a very little peice on the under layer of your hair!!!

Dark Brown, semi permanant. If you like it, you can go permenant.

omg!!! do not use a color remover!!! I did that once, it makes your hair be stripped with bleach... I had bananna yellow hair and had to colorr dark to cover it and it was very fried from the remover... it in no way goes back to your natural color... ask a cosmatologist if you dont believe it. good luck!!

You should just tell your friend not to use permanent colors unless your sure you want your hair to look that way.I was going to die my hair blond so I first got a small strand of my hair died,as in a high light. It is sometimes better to get a highlight first rather than die it all that way you know what it will look like. That's the best advice I can give you.Good luck! :P

I would wait and leave it to the professionals. I have had too many bad hair experiences!

You are one brave lady to let your friend color your hair (I have the same color hair). I'm very picky about my hair so I have my beautician to color it. I tried it myself before and it turned out yellow because I didn't have enough of coloring bleach in it or something. Anyway it was awful. I'll never let anyone else but my beautician color it. Good Luck!
